BOSTON — New Orleans Saints players were on the field for the first time this week after the Saints’ offseason program.

New Orleans head coach Sean Payton said he expects the team to play in the NFC title game.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees said the team is excited about their second practice with pads on.

They were the first team in pads on Friday.

Spencer Platt/Getty Images”I think everybody is really excited to be out here and it’s just about getting a little more comfortable, getting a feel for the team and getting some things set up for us,” Brees said.

“I know the preseason is a big deal, so we’re excited to get back to practice.

The coaches are going to try to get us going on offense.

We want to get as much out of it as we can.”

New Orleans is the No. 2 seed in the AFC South after beating New England 34-31 on Sunday.

The Saints have not lost in six games since March 7.

The Saints are coming off a 27-3 win over New York last season.

The NFL’s most expensive signing of the offseason, wide receiver Kenny Stills, was not on the practice field.

Stills was on a conditioning program with running back Alvin Kamara, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and offensive lineman Jared Odrick, but the Saints did not see him on the team.

Stamps will miss New Orleans’ first two games of the regular season on Sunday when the Saints play at the New Orleans Coliseum and at the Superdome in New Orleans.

Sticks is expected to start in New York against the Giants.
