A young driver has lost control of a car after colliding with a parked truck on a busy intersection in central Australia.

The woman’s car came to rest on its side.

The front of the truck was smashed in half and the rear of the vehicle was crushed.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but it was not immediately clear what caused the crash.

Police said the woman was a young woman, aged between 18 and 20 years old, who had been driving the truck on the southbound side.

“There is no evidence to suggest that this was intentional or malicious,” a police statement said.

“The investigation into this incident continues.”

Police have said the man who was driving the pickup has been charged with dangerous driving.
