The new generation of self-driven cars are on their way to delivering the first real breakthroughs in reducing air pollution.
But while some researchers are optimistic about the impact, others are questioning whether they can do the job.
IMS Automotive, a manufacturer of autonomous vehicles, is taking a look at how the technology could change the way we do business and make the job of public transportation more sustainable.
The company has been testing its self-drive vehicles on city streets, highways and highways.
But in some ways, it is still learning how to drive the car, and it has yet to test the cars in real-world traffic situations.
Ims says its test vehicles are not yet ready for production, but the company has made significant progress.
“Our vehicles are still not fully autonomous, but they are not far off,” said IMS CEO Jim Miller in a phone interview.
“We have gotten a lot of good feedback on our cars, and we are trying to understand how they will perform in real traffic.”
The company is now testing its own self-racing vehicles on the streets of Pittsburgh.
Miller said the cars are “very much in the process of learning how they operate in real driving situations.”
But he added that testing is not complete.
“To do that, we need to make sure our vehicles are in safe operating environments,” Miller said.
“I want to emphasize that our cars are not going to have a manual gearbox, and they will not have an automatic transmission.
We will still be operating them with the manual transmission.”
The key for the company to understand is the way the car drives itself.
The car’s driving software is built into the vehicle, and is controlled by an internal computer.
In the future, Miller said, we could have autonomous vehicles that drive themselves, using computers.
“It’s going to be a completely new approach to how we drive,” he said.
The goal is to have the cars that drive us to work for us, he said, adding that the cars have “the capability to take over for you if you go into the wrong lane.”
Ims is also working with a company called M&M Robotics to develop self-flying drones, which can fly themselves.
The drones are not ready for commercial flight yet, but will be in the next few years.
The cars are the future of transportation, Miller told TIME.
“This technology is going to make it possible to do things like get around faster,” he told TIME in the interview.
Miller is also developing a selfdriving electric car.
I want to stress that our vehicles, we are not just going to sit there and say, ‘We’re going to take a trip.’
” Ims and M&m Robotics are developing the cars to work on city roads, highways, and highways to ensure that they can operate safely and efficiently, and that they have the right kind of infrastructure for driving, including a highway system, roadways, and parking lots, Miller explained.
I am confident we can deliver a vehicle that will drive itself, and be able to work as efficiently as humans can, he added.
The Ims cars will not be the first self-made vehicles to drive themselves.
Earlier this year, Uber, a company that operates on the smartphone platform Lyft, rolled out an electric vehicle that has the ability to drive itself.
I had heard that the company was working on an electric version of its autonomous cars, but had not seen the actual vehicles, Miller added.
Uber has a test fleet of 200 vehicles, and Miller said he believes that the self-powered cars will be able provide a significant boost to the company’s market share, especially among older generations of drivers.
I’m very confident that with these vehicles, there will be tremendous opportunity to grow our brand, which is what we’ve always been about, Miller concluded.
I have always believed that technology is the future for mobility, and this is the first time that technology has actually taken on the role of being the vehicle that drives itself, he noted.
Miller said that Ims hopes to offer the first autonomous vehicles for sale in 2019, but added that there are other manufacturers working on the technology. “
What I’m most excited about is that we are finally going to see the first vehicles that actually drive themselves on the road,” he added, “and we are going to finally have the first car that can drive itself in the traffic, and I’m sure that’s going be something that will make people feel that we’re going somewhere really good.”
Miller said that Ims hopes to offer the first autonomous vehicles for sale in 2019, but added that there are other manufacturers working on the technology.
I know that there is a lot that we still have to learn about how the cars operate, but hopefully by 2019, we will have a much better understanding of how they drive themselves and we can start to develop new ways to optimize our vehicles for these applications.
